Buddhist Sunday School, October 4, 2026: Dhamma, Thai, music and dance
Sun, October 4, 2026

Classes at the Buddhist Sunday School of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep USA on Sunday, October 4, 2026: flag ceremony, chanting and meditation, Dhamma studies, Thai language, Thai and Lanna music, and Thai and Lanna dance.
On Sunday, October 4, 2026, the Buddhist Sunday School at Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep USA in Chino Hills, California, held its regular classes. Students from the youngest class to the oldest took part, and many parents sat in to cheer them on.
The morning began with the students lining up to honour the flags of the United States and Thailand. They then went into the hall to pay respect to the Buddha, chant and meditate, led by a monk. The children sat cross-legged with their eyes closed, practising calm and mindfulness before class.
Students then went to their classrooms by level for Dhamma studies with the monks and Thai language with volunteer teachers. The youngest class learned Thai words for vehicles, while the older students practised reading, writing and answering questions at the whiteboard.
In the afternoon, students learned Thai and Lanna music in the courtyard, on the ranat xylophone, the khong wong gong circle, the khim dulcimer and drums, with teachers sitting right beside them. Another group learned Thai and Lanna dance, practising together in red chong kraben trousers and sashes.
Thank you to the monks, volunteer teachers and parents who help our children learn Buddhism, keep the Thai language and carry on Lanna culture in America. Families who would like to enrol are welcome to ask at the wat on any Sunday.
