On July 8, 2025, Phrakhru Withetkalyanatham, Dr., abbot of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep USA in Chino Hills, California, hosted an evening of Abhidhamma funeral chanting for Associate Professor Dr. Bangorn Solos, who passed away at the age of 73. The rites were held at Wat Si Suriyawongsaram Worawihan in Mueang Ratchaburi District, Ratchaburi Province, Thailand.

Abhidhamma chanting is a Thai Buddhist funeral tradition: family and friends gather each evening to hear the monks chant and to dedicate the merit to the one who has passed, while reflecting on the impermanence of life and the value of living it well.

The monks and lay community of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep USA and the Chittasobhana Bhavana Foundation offered a wreath in remembrance, and the abbot spent time with Dr. Bangorn’s family, friends and former students, who came with great love and respect.

Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep USA extends its deepest condolences to the Solos family and to all who loved her. May Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bangorn Solos rest in peace and attain a happy rebirth.
