On July 10, 2025, Wat Kao Charoen Tham in Phang Nga Province, Thailand, held its pillar-raising ceremony. The abbot of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep USA presented gifts to local families on behalf of supporters in California.
On July 10, 2025, Wat Kao Charoen Tham in Phang Nga Province, southern Thailand, led by its abbot Ajahn Wira, held a pillar-raising ceremony (yok sao ek) to begin work on a new building for the temple.
Raising the first pillar is a traditional Thai blessing held before an important building goes up, asking for good fortune, strength and peace for everyone who will use it. Families from the local community came to share in the merit.
On this occasion, the abbot of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep USA presented bags of household supplies and envelopes of support to villagers, elders and families gathered in the temple hall.
The gifts came from the generosity of the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep USA community in Chino Hills, California: though far away in America, they continue to care for Thai communities and temples back home.
Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep USA rejoices in the merit of Ajahn Wira, the committee of Wat Kao Charoen Tham, the people of Phang Nga and everyone who took part. To support outreach like this, please call the wat at (909) 606-9502.
